In spring of 2024 the Pender Harbour Health Centre (PHHC) partnered with a consultant named Urban Matters and launched the 2024 needs assessment process. During the months of April – June the PHHC launched the needs assessment engagement process to gather input and feedback from community members and community groups in Pender Harbour and surrounding communities.

Once this data was gathered, this information was then shared with Urban Matters who, in conjunction with PHHC staff, worked over the summer to collate the data and complete the final needs assessment reports. The final report titled, “2024 Pender Harbour & Egmont Health & Social Service Needs Assessment – Report Brief” can be accessed digitally by clicking the link in this article. Further, paper copies of this report cam be picked up from the Pender Harbour Health Centre reception.

The next steps include a final engagement event in the Spring where we will share the findings with community and discuss how we can address the recommendations outlined. The PHHC team will also be using the findings and recommendations from the report to help guide program development, assist with strategic planning and supporting advocacy efforts with our funders and community partners as we move forward.

Finally, we want to thank the Sunshine Coast Foundation for their generous Responsive Community grant which allowed us to undertake this needs assessment. We want to thank our consultant Urban Matters for their support in guiding us through this project and most importantly we want to thank the community for your participation and input in this needs assessment project.

We look forward to seeing you in spring 2025 to learn more and collaborate on the next steps.
