The Pender Harbour Health Centre would not exist without the support of the community.

So where does the funding come from?

PHHC is not funded by the government and the Ministry of Health the way that Health Authority services are, given this we rely on funding agreements, grants, endowments, tenant income, fundraising and donations to operate. Every year the PHHC leadership team are applying for funding and seeking new ways to locate the money needed to continue operations and develop our programs and services.

Currently around 45% of the budget is funded annually by the nursing contract with Vancouver Coastal Health and an annual operational grant from the SCRD. The other 55% of the budget is variable and is funded through donations, grant applications, rent from tenants and a small amount of interest from an endowment fund. The Pender Harbour Healthcare Auxiliary operates the Bargain Barn, which can donate up to 10% of the annual funding.

This means that close to half of the budget is at risk from year to year. Programs like the Better at Home, Harbourside Friendships, Dietician, and Chronic Disease Management as well as our social work program are funded by donations and grants.

Your donations are very important to the health centre – both to ensure we can keep operating, and to help us keep our building in good up-to-date condition.

We would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank those funding partners we have who support the vision and goals of the Pender Harbour Health Centre. Without their support we wouldn’t be able to offer the programs and support to the community. Thank you from our Board, patients, staff and community.
